LAPIS MOTH
Feather Art
Lapis Moth carries the beauty that emerges only from darkness. Her quiet presence can easily be missed by those who cannot see with their eyes open. Like the moonflower, she opens to the night, unfolding—a witness to her silent joy and bliss.
Her iridescent, jeweled body catches the moonlight as she flies in the night air. The deep-blue feather pools of her body are contrasted by ordinary brown wings. By Nature's design, she is nothing less than divine in her presence and simplicity.
Materials:
Sparrow wings at each side are complemented by four hummingbird wings as antennae. The yellow tail strands are Golden Pheasant. Blue Peacock plumage lines the center jewels, which came from a necklace given to the artist sixty years ago by her grandmother, who purchased it at the New York Museum of Art.
